This is the pattern of July 1864, with dimensions of 7.2" x 1.7" x 5.1", with the US embossed front flap. It was made for the .58 caliber elongated Minie ball. The box is manufacturer id'd on the back with S.H., Young Co Newark in an oval. This is an excellent box with original tins, double interior flaps, complete latch strap, finial, buckles and ears. There is some minor flaking on the top and inside, but overall this cartridge box must be described as in truly fine condition.
