Printed in black ink on plain paper, this note's vignette depicts Ceres and Commerce at top center. The date has been handwritten 2 Dec 1861. The note was authorized according to an act of the Virginia Assembly and bears the imprint �Lith of Hoyer & Ludwig, Richmond, Va.� Charles Affleck, writing about obsolete Virginia bank notes, estimated that there were fewer than 50 of these in existence in 1968. The note is in circulated, but very fine condition.
