This practical, though scarce, little item is made of japanned tin and stands 3½” tall with a 3" diameter. It is made like a tin mess cup but with an enclosed top sprinkled with holes to dispense the salt. I’ve seen a couple of these in museum collections before, but this is the first I have ever owned. It is in very fine shape with
     much of the original reddiish finish still intact.
