Lewisburg, PA, July 12, 1861. Colonel Rickett’s “Campbell’s Artillery” is in force at Camp Curtain; a division of Rebels under Gov Wise at Buckhannon, south of Phillippa in West Va attacked and routed by General Morris whose troops sustained no injuries. Second half of a speech made by Lincoln on 4 July 1861 is reprinted in full. July 9th report of “friendly fire in which a group of rebels was mistaken for a federal cohort and fired upon by their own, killing eight. Lots of early war news and much speculation. The usual interesting period advertisements, many of them illustrated. A two-page paper (17½” x 23") in overall very fine condition.
