This is a very rare document estimating and assessing the value of agricultural products for tax purposes. This is a pre-printed form on coarse brown paper, complete in black ink (much of which has faded considerably). The total value of wheat, oats, rye, hay and wool is $719.25. Said amount was received by Agent James T. May 8 October 1864 in the 5th Congressional District of Alabama. The tax was paid with commodities rather than money. The document measures 8_" x 11_" and is in very good condition.
