This �Certificate of Eligibility for the Southern Cross of Honor� was completed 17 January 1913 on behalf of James H. Turner, of Rexton, MD who was a Private in �K� Company of the 10th Virginia Cavalry while a resident of Franklin County, VA. He enlisted 19 June 1861 & was honorably discharged 9 April 1865 at the �surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia� Endorsing Turner's application is J. Fred Talbot of �F� Company 2nd Maryland Cavalry and G. H. Hood, President of the United Confederate Veterans. This is a handsome document prepared on green paper and in very fine condition.
