A two-piece pewter pin with bar showing the state capitol in Des Moines with medal inscribed with a raised eagle and crossed cannon, the USV logo of the GAR and the words �Preserved by the grace of God 1881". Remnants of the gold ribbon remain under the back clasp. This is a most handsome medal.
