Generals and Their Horses

Several Civil War Generals were known to have a great affinity for their horse (or horses). Here are some of the most noteworthy:

General Nathan Bedford Forrest and King Phillip

General U.S.S. Grant and Cincinnati, Jack, Kangaroo and Fox

General T.J. "Stonewall" Jackson and Little Sorrel (who now stands proudly on display in the VMI museum)

General Albert S. Johnston and Fire-Eater

General Philip Kearny and Bayard

General George B. McClellan and Dan Webster and Kentuck

General George G. Meade and Baldy

Then we mustn't forget the notorious Rebel spy Belle Boyd and her mount Fleeter.
