This glass syringe was used mainly for irrigating wounds or cuts and not for injections. The tube and plunger are clear glass. It has what appears to be a string-wrapped pad on the end of the plunger. A good likeness is shown in Lord?s V, p. 129, but this one is considerably larger measuring 9" closed and 13" extended. Of course, glass instruments that have survived through the years and quire scarce and most desirable for a Civil War medical display. This one is in excellent condition .
