This is a wonderful pair of crutches fashioned out of two tree limbs. Two 46" limbs have been hewn and split down the middle where a 4" x 1 1/2" cylindrical piece of wood has been bolted to make a hand hold. The under-arm rests are 7" across x 1 1/2" deep and carved to make a soft curved base. One top piece is somewhat worn, but these have great character and were, most probably, made in the field out of necessity. They come from an old Fredericksburg, VA collection and have been in the Coleman collection since 1992.
