This is a small, circular, black leather socket 2_" x 2_" with a _" buckle. It fastened to the saddle's "D" ring & was used to secure the carbine barrel to the saddle. The leather is in fine condition with just one separation at the second hole which has long ago been loosely repaired. Like all leather items, these are getting more and more scarce.
