$297.50
This extremely rare bullet mold was for the .40 caliber picket bullet for use with the Billinghurst rifle. Billinghurst, a New Yorker, ws one of the foremost rifle makers in America. In fact, it was noted in the 2 August 1841 issue of the Rochester Daily Democrat, that he had also made rifles for the Emperor of Brazil and for the Majaraja of Bombay. He made revolving rifles which generally shot anywhere from four to seven rounds. This mold is quite large, measuring 10" in overall length. It has 4 1/4" wooden handles and the mold will make both conical and round bullets. It was the personal property of Herman P. Dean of Huntington, W. Va., and is neatly stamped "H. Dean" with stars before and after the name. It is in excellent condition and comes from the George Whiting collection.
