I am always a bit amazed when one of these turns up considering their reputation for having such a short service life in the field. This tool is made of a 25 1/2 " leather thong attached to a brass fitting on which is a 4" section of stiff cleaning bristle. It was simply pulled through the bore of the breach-loading carbine to clean out built up residue. This one is particularly fine and comes from the George Whiting collection. These are scarce and yet essential for display with a carbine.
