F731 - C. W Bullseye Canteen

$287.50
Model 1858 canteens were reinforced by stamping with concentric rings. Collectors refer to these as "bull's-eye" canteens to differentiate them from the smooth sided canteens they replaced. Often this style was covered with wool fabric, but photographic evidence shows that soldiers carried them uncovered as well. This one is a solid, Union bull's eye canteen with all three strap brackets, spout, stopper and original chain intact. There are a couple of minor surface dings -- just enough to let you know it was there, and enough surface rust to give it character and evidence of some re-soldering at the bottom. There are no identifying manufacturer's marks. A solid, representative specimen
