This is a pattern 1826 eagle plate designed to be worn on the enlistedman's cartridge box shoulder strap. This one has an even chocolate patina. The lead filled back is completely gone, so it is impossible to tell what kind of hooks this one originally had. It comes from the George Whiting collection and was recovered many years ago in Cedar Creek, VA. A nice, and affordable, battlefield identified relic from a notable collection.
