This is the handsome Pattern 1826 plate worn on the leather shoulder strap of the Infantryman's cartridge box. This one is an exceptionally nice, non-dug plate with lead-filled back and two solid hooks. It retains a fine gilt finish with virtually no patina. The detail on the eagle and the arrows is particularly sharp. The plate measures just over 2_" in diameter and must be described as an extremely desirable plate.
