Dated 22 June 1865 at Washington City D.C., this response was sent to Lieut John A. Snodgrass of the 149th PA Vols by order of Quartermaster General Alex J. Perry, Colonel. It acknowledges receipt of the Clothing, Camp and Garrison Equipment report submitted for the month of June 1864 and offers comments to wit: clothing issued to five men, but not accounted for must now be subject to a deposition �setting forth the reason why their signature was not obtained.... All signatures of soldiers to the Receipt Roll must be witnessed by an officer....� The document is one sheet, written on both sides and in excellent condition.
