A handsome pair of documents: list of QM stores including horse, mule and camp equipment for the 11th Illinois Cavalry stationed at Clear Creek, Mississippi 15 December 1863. Twelve axes and axe handles have been highlighted on the list, and the second document is a statement written by Lieut P. F. Elliott, Acting QM, certifying that the axes were issued and transferred to him. This certification is dated “Camp...near Vicksburg, Miss 17 December 1863.” Elliott was promoted to Captain, then Major in March 1865 and transferred to Field and Staff. The 11th Ill spent a good deal of time in Vicksburg. With these documents I will include Elliott’s history with a copy of his likeness and the regimental history of the 11th Illinois Cavalry. A handsome document pairing in excellent condition.
