B256 - Power of Attorney

$46.50
An 8" x 12?" document in which Frederick Darbey appoints Richard Kingsland his attorney "for the collection of any money due me from the United States for my services as private in Company 'I' Twelfth New York Vol from the 31st May 1861 to June 30 1862 inclusive. The document was signed by Darbey on 19 July 1862 and has been duly notarized by J. M. Pierce, Justice of the Peace in Cortland County, New York. It would be most interesting to learn how this turned out. The official records show that Darbey enlisted on 13 April 1861, was taken prisoner at Upton's Hill, VA 27 August 1861, paroled on 2 June 1862 in Washington and deserted on 1 July 1862. This document is in overall excellent condition
