A two-page letter (in a quarto) on patriotic stationery featuring a bust sketch and caption "Our Jessie" of Mrs. General John Fremont. The letter was written from Hanover Hospital in New Hampshire to her friend by Sarah McLean who, because of ill health, has left Vermont to stay in the care of Dr. Crosby for at least a fortnight. She writes of a minister Mr Gaily in Vermont and his work. She inquires about a report that her friend has not lived with her father for some time. The letter was written in 1863, but contains no war reference, just a nice, clean letter in a very readable hand and most collectable because of the Fremont sketch.
